Thank you to both Pat Ellington and Cytnia Chenier for being such good sports this week when they had their name pulled from the pot and spoke for about 5 minutes each on their prospective businesses. Since Pat Ellington just spoke a few weeks back and had her information posted in the Riptide I thought I would give this week's Riptide shout out to Cynthia Chenier.

Cynthia’s Designs specializes in commercial and residential decorative glass. Established in 1987, Cynthia has used her artistic talent to design some of the most unique and spectacular art glass pieces. Her work has included entry doors, windows, sidelights, skylights, transoms and cabinets, as well as, domes, churches, restaurants and casinos throughout southern California and beyond. A graduate of Cal State Long Beach with a degree in Art, Cynthia spent a few years in the restaurant décor industry painting murals and designing etched glass for restaurants. It didn’t take long to add leaded glass to her repertoire. “I am so fortunate to have found a medium to make a living as an artist, and love what I do!”

I thank the ongoing relationships with local builders, contractors, architects, designers, door and window companies, as well as, countless glass companies whose repeat business and referrals keep me busy. I’m lucky enough to work on a commission basis designing for other decorative glass studios as well. I enjoy the combined efforts of all my colleagues to bring a project from design to installation and the excitement and pleasure it brings to each new client.

How It Is Done

The majority of my commissions are designed by hand in front of my customers at our first meeting. I bring several photo albums of work I’ve done to give you ideas of what is possible. I can draw anything and make it work in glass. I will give you an accurate price upon our first visit, including discussing all installation possibilities. All designs are approved small scale and then glass is selected to compliment and satisfy all your individual needs. I have a licensed contractor available for new door and window installations and when structurally possible any solid existing door can be cut out and a new window panel can be inserted. We can match any mass produced entryway with a complimenting transom, sidelight or adjacent window in zinc, brass and our favorite, lead caming. We are experienced in all installation applications and a leader in the dual and triple glazing challenges of vinyl windows.
